It was a long night for both Elijah and the wolf. Dreams of violence, human and carnage from were form plagued them both as they tried to sleep, and then sometime in the early predawn hours a snake wandered into the makeshift den and attempted to warm itself beneath Elijah. Not even a growl would deter it from trying to squeeze under the mound of limbs and fur. Normally the creature would make a quick meal, but not knowing the poisons it could be carrying, Elijah chose to leave it be and begin his morning search for water early.

He wandered deeper into the forest and eventually found a beautiful fresh spring, tributaries looked like they met here and traveled off into different directions. There was a cliff with a waterfall that the wolf could climb and get a vantage point, a small lay of the lands he'd been traveling.

It looked like he'd gone about half the length of the forest, and he had about another day's journey before he reached a rocky outcropping where there might be caves that Elijah could live in.

The vampire would have to figure out which of the animals in the forest had blood that was drinkable because he was starting to be fatigued. He could go a long time without blood-- he'd had training in all his many years, but he'd weaken quickly and wouldn't be of much use to himself or others after a while.

There was still no sight of Cain or any other human-like creatures. This disturbed Elijah greatly. He almost curled up here and didn't move anymore. He didn't. There was still the smallest grain of hope that he might still find Cain somewhere.

Transforming back to himself, Elijah took the time to bathe in the spring and lay out in the sun. He called out to Cain several times, this time using his human voice. Sadly, only the gurgling of the water, and the rushing of the waterfall met him in return.
