Dawn broke the troubled sleep of the fitful immortal, turning on the bed of rocks he reclined against with discover the aches from limbs that stiffened overnight. He groaned and sighed, looking forlornly out at the morning sky from where he was half shadowed by the rocks.
He was thirsty, his lips were parched and he needed to find food and relieve himself, yet Cain couldn't find the energy to move. If he was alone again, was there any point to any of this. Another ten thousand years, watching civilization culture from nothingness... He couldn't do it again.
Eventually it was his body that forced him to move so he could at least relieve himself although he wondered if he should be valuing the liquids if there was no water.
But he wasn't in a desert, there was a forest just behind him which meant definite water and food source, he had only to find it. So sighing, he considered the land before him and turned back in the direction he came from yesterday, towards that lush greenery. He gave another shout for his lover, bellowing loud enough to nearly make himself hoarse, before he started trekking towards the outskirts of the forest. Maybe he could keep to the edge of it and see what he could find. Walking in would definitely lose him in its foliage so he could only hope he didn't have to until he knew there was no other choice.
It was not reassuring that he still didn't recognize most of the flora or fauna, and having spent all his life living in one place, if he was back on Earth, he would recognize most plantlife by sight if not by name. It was further disheartening. Sighing for what must be the twentieth time that morning, he started to move.
