Taking one last look at the lovely little bit of paradise in the midst of his lonely and increasingly hopeless situation Elijah inhaled deeply and pressed it out slowly before taking off in the blink of an eye. He didn't bother to take to the wolf again. This time, the hybrid chose to make time over using intense wolf senses. He had to know if Cain was over near the rocks; if he was anywhere Elijah knew that he'd have taken shelter in caves or something similar in rocky outcroppings-- at least to start with.

Coming quickly to the edge of the forest, the vampire bellowed loudly. "Cain, Cain, are you out here?"
He wandered along this part of the greenery, searching back and forth for signs of his loved one. Eventually he dropped to all fours and howled out his song, praying that his lover might hear him.

Then he caught it, a smell upon the air, a familiar scent-- could it really be that Cain was around here? He didn't want to believe his senses, but did his wolf's nose lie? He sniffed at the path again and noticed the footprint that had bent the grass, it was barely visible, but it was there.

Joy surged through the hybrid, and the wolf howled again, this time a happy tune-- gone was the forlorn sound. It called out to its mate to the one that it loved above all others and set off to go find him.
