Cain never was one to be carried, but he also learned to not argue when sometimes the necessity required it. Like now, when he was weak from not having eaten and thirsty and tired. So he let Elijah take his weight while he laid up against the vampire's chest and listened to his pounding heart. They were together, that heart was alive. That was all that mattered.
Half a day's walk for Cain was little for a hybrid, although it was still long enough that Cain worried for his love. But between the two of them, despite them both being immortals he understood who was stronger, so he voiced his concerns only as supportive kisses during their brief moments of rest. Soon he heard the sound of running water as well, and it was nothing short of paradise what Elijah took him to.
Cain didn't hesitate to drink, knowing nothing could truly kill him, not even thirst, but he would prefer to not be desiccated. When he finally had his full, he looked back to Elijah standing over him.
"Did you manage to figure out where are we? I don't recognize the flora..." Which meant they were probably not returned to Earth. "I was so afraid I lost you forever." Even now, a shadow of that fear remained at the back of his gaze when he looked up at his lover.
