Of course Elijah completely agreed with Cain's assessment on the hunting situation. He'd originally been trained as a hunter by his father, who'd been known for his skills as one where Elijah grew up. He was twenty-five when he turned and had twenty-five years of training from his father. He was only scorned for the love that he showed his brother Niklaus, but Elijah and Klaus still never rebelled from their duties.
Not only that, but Elijah had the vampire and the wolf, two creatures even further skilled at hunting than the previous mortal. Add to that Cain's skills and the pair were uniquely suited greater than most people who'd ever lived out here to survive in this brand new wilderness than any other.
"I was thinking the same thing. I would have gone chasing after the game, but I was more intent on finding you first. You were the first thing I considered essential to life." He squeezed Cain's hand, and then let him go to retrieve more water. "Take your time. I really am fine to wait until after you've eaten if you want. I'm tired, but not enough to be weak yet. I've gone long periods without blood."
