Cain was careful to not throw himself into the water and end up making himself sick on it, but drank slowly with breaks to talk to Elijah. He smiled when his lover confessed what necessitated for him to keep living, and he gave the hybrid's hand a squeeze to agree with him; yes, it was the same vice versa. Finding Elijah too had been Cain's first and foremost thought, and he was searching for him rather than water when he had been circling the forest earlier.
"Then there is the second question. Do we want to stay here, or explore? I haven't seen a land as untouched as this in a long time... If there is any creatures of intelligence here, they are not nearby. This wilderness looked natural as far as I could see... But that doesn't mean there isn't civilization somewhere."
Cain honestly wouldn't have cared either way. He had wandered most of his life, and spent the recent few years in the comfort of civilization, but he could just as easily adapt back to the simple ways of nature as long as Elijah was by his side. Yet the vampire had always been surrounded by people, even back in the days of his humanity. While certainly capable, Cain wasn't sure Elijah would endorse the idea of returning to the wilderness with only Cain for his company.
