"I have no right to tell you what to do," Cain said, but he wasn't playing daft. He knew what Elijah meant, and a second later, he shook his head in a small gesture. "There's no point, unless you want to avoid me, and I'm pretty certain you just spent the last hour trying to convince me otherwise. So don't."
He squeezed the bridge of his nose slightly, noticing that his physical headache had mostly subsided but the continuous one to do with the Mikaelsons had not.
"But I don't think it needs be said that I'm your brother's man. He doesn't care much for me, but I don't know how receptive of your... infatuation with me." For lack of better word. But it showed that Cain had a good grasp of Klaus' paranoia and jealousy streaks, and his standards of not letting someone have something even if he himself did not want it. Cain was his possession that he shared with the rest of the family on a whim, but if he had an inkling that Elijah valued it, he was just as likely to put a stop to it.
"I..." Here was the hard part, and once more, hesitation showed on that normally bland or confident mask. "I might not be all you think I am. There is a lot you do not know about me that is not as grand or wonderful as you see it." His gaze moved from Elijah to the drink before him. "I am just a man, a cursed one who lived far too long."
