Elijah knew exactly what Cain spoke about when it came to his brother, but the matter on what he would do or wouldn't do when it came to spending time around Cain was still up in the air in Elijah's mind. Cain didn't clarify enough. He was going to have to say things as plainly as the original did for Elijah's sake because if they were to be intimate then it would be completely on Cain's say so. The vampire would not become his brother and treat him as any less.
Getting up from his chair, Elijah chose to begin to stalk the room on his side, pacing back and forth in front of a small bookcase that he had. It gave him something to do while he tried to keep himself from feeling anything that was going on right now in his head or his heart. It would be of a bad consequence if he did.
"You may do as you wish, and I do not expect anything from you. You are an equal in my sight, Cain. I do not see you as less than myself, but you are right about my brother. He has always sought to take anything any of my siblings and I have ever sought an interest in. A note though, please ... do not use the term infatuation. This is more than a school girl crush." Elijah inhaled and turned away for a pace, then came back to the desk.
"You will always be you, Cain, we always have our demons, and we are both but cursed men. Yet, it is not about then, it is about now. We would bury ourselves in our demons of then if that was who we truly remained for all time. I myself shall never do that. I refuse. You will be the man I see today, and your past may be, share it or not, you will find me not so fickle in my feelings." There was still a lot that Cain had to learn about Elijah as well-- he wasn't the only one with his own hidden lot.
