"And I am the Original human!" Cain barked, voice thundering in the darkened room that remained unlit. There was no warm fireplace or burning lamps awaiting for them, but just the same cold deadness that Elijah had left this place in for a whole year.
There was something in that voice that was different, a command of hubris, a reminder to this incredibly young vampire to whom he was boasting his so called Original status with. It was a form of arrogance that had been missing all during their first meetings and their subsequent meetings, a missing piece that the spark Elijah had lit had illuminated for the soul-dead human.
Cain yanked Elijah up and dragged him as he marched into the attached bedroom by throwing the door open with a bang. He shoved Elijah through it and closed it behind him, uncaring who heard. Klaus was not in the building at the moment, hadn't for for a week now, and Cain had temporary free reign.
As a human he couldn't see Elijah very well in the darkness, unlike how the vampire likely had night vision who could, but Cain didn't need it as he shoved the so-glad Original onto the bed and moved forward to straddle the man. He pinned him between his knees as he towered over him, his eyes practically looking black in the shadows illuminated only by filtered moonlight.
Manhandling the vampire had left Cain heaving as he waited for his breath to calm down. He stared down at Elijah, finally back after a year's absence and daring to look completely unchanged. As if he could make a promise, leave him to live in the empty shadow of that leaving, only to return like nothing happened.
"Do you know what you did to me?" He asked in a pent up tone, echoing Elijah's unanswered question. "Do you know why I needed that spark? Why I need you now?" Like getting stabbed in the chest, Cain was bleeding, but it wasn't wet crimson that washed one Elijah, but desperation.
